chain links I just wanted to give some quick and easy helpful tips to help you drive traffic and raise your search engine ratings.

Original content is key, search Engines love new original content! They hate plagiarism and duplicate work. If you are a blogger, then writing new posts every day would be ideal. If you can not write that many shoot for just during the weekdays or at least once a week.

Never Join Mass Directories. Large directories with thousands of sites are just too big. It takes a lot of work to be seen in these. There are far better ways to get listed and help your SEO ratings. Some of the few Directories you should join are, Yahoo! Directory, DOMZ, Buisness.com, and BOTW.

Internal Linking is important. Never use fancy navigation links on your site, this includes scripted drop down menus and flash menus. Searching engine spiders can not crawl scripts. If you must use scripted navigation, put basic HTML coded links at the bottom of page that link to each of your internal pages, also include a site map.

Link Purchasing is the act of buying links in order to raise your search engine and page rank. When you purchase links, these sites will then follow you back. Link purchasing is against Google website guidelines and will get you remove the search engine listings. If you want rankings one of the easiest and fastest ways to get you noticed, is to purchase advertisements add space such as affiliate programs, add space on niche related sites, enrolling in programs such as Google Adwords can get you noticed before sites that you organic search engine resources.

Link Exchanges should be natural. By this is you should not have to ask a site or a blogger to add you to their blog roll. If you add their link to your site and the other website owner reads your blog and they add your site. Some sites will not post blog roles because of their sponsors and they do not allow blog rolls or they have such a large following, they do not blog roll any blogs or sites.

Linking building should be another tool you use to market your website. The more inbound and outbound links your site has, the higher your rank can be with the search engines. But this only works if the links are related to what you are writing about. If your links are random, does not make sense, or the content is not related to your content. Google will consider the links a bad resource and may even penalize.

Tips for link Building:

One of the easiest ways to get links is to comment on other blogs. The more comments you can make on different sites the better. Studies have shown that the ideal amount of blog commenting should be around fifty comments a day on different sites. The reason why you want to comment on blogs is, every time you leave a comment, you will leave your website link on each site. If you comment on fifty blogs that are in your niche you would receive fifty backlinks to your site. So if you comment on fifty blogs a day for thirty days you would have fifteen hundred incoming links to your site. That means that you have fifteen hundred chances for a reader of those blogs to see your post and if interested they can click your link and come to your site. Every time the search engine sees your link they follow it back to your site and share a little of their fame your site. I generally try and comment about 20 different blogs daily. The key to commenting, is to comment in way that it’s helpful to the community. If it’s not helpful, its to short or if its off topic it will be considered spam and your comment will be deleted.

Look for blogs that advertise that they are DoFollow blogs. DoFollow is a term given to web pages or sites that are not using the NoFollow HTML attribute. Some of the more popular blogging communities turn this off because they fear comment spammers and every time a link goes out they loose a tiny bit of their Google Page Rank.

Be a DoFollow Site. By default your WordPress might be set to NoFollow. There is a plugin you can use that will go in by deafault and correct this issue. The plugin is called Do Follow

Look for sites that use CommentLuv and install CommentLuv on your site. CommentLuv is a DoFollow plugin that adds an additional link to your post. This link will to be to your latest blog post. Once you register with the CommentLuv and setup your site, you can use the tool. What this means to you is, that any site you post on, that uses CommentLuv, you will double your inbound links!

Another way to get more links is to use message boards that are DoFollow. Most of these sites will let you create a custom signature where you can leave your website links. Every time you post a comment, it leaves a link to your site.

Use social booking marking systems, such as Blog Engage and MMO Social Network. Both of these sites are Dofollow and both offer revenue sharing. I get a lot of traffic and have made a lot of new friends on these networks. Just remember when you submit your content you need to reword and change the title on the submission page. Google will consider the submission pages as duplicate sites and penalize your hard work.

  1. Regarding duplicate content I read on some blog that even the archive pages in our own blog is duplicate content and Google is not favoring this. If it is true, what do you suggest? Remove archive pages? Or this is just scandle? In our city some who work as web consultant, say that they have found that some site they made with all duplicate content are ranked even higher than the original site. I doubt.

What might be the different for search engine between the purchased link or purchased advertisement space. Wont both appear same technically?
My recent post Do I need permission to link to other websites in my post?

    • Hi Skhanal,

Duplicate content is a sticky subject. I find that that there is not a 100%agreement on this. I plan to more research on this. But the best advice I can give anyone, including my clients. I would NEVER post duplicate posts, even they are different but are closely related. Find a way to make them look different. Make sure each has a unique title, descriptions and content is different. This including posting to submissions pages and hubpages and those sort of sites.

As for achieves, I have read several articles on this subject. Google does consider it duplicate content, but from I can find, it treats it differently. What those articles recommended was to keep your achieves, but make sure it does not duplicate. Sometimes when your blogs get achieved, it can cause duplication. I am not sure how to combat this, but I would at least go through your archives and make sure there is not an duplicate work.

  2. You cover all my strategies in this article. Yeah — i do all of it for my SEO. One thing that i can add is guest posting. It is surely the best way for link building.

  3. Wow! this is a very good post, I enjoyed the read and I think you put all linking ideas together! and thanks for mentioning our MMO Social Network, I will make sure to send your blog more traffic in future not only because you are adding the 125 banner image to your side bar 😉 but because I really like your blog! keep the good work!

  4. Fifty blog comments a day is a lot, particularly for small business/sole operators. If you want blog comments to be meaningful you have to a) read the blog and b) comment intelligently on the content which is a big return.
It's hard to see how you could do this on 50 blogs a day in a way that would get a decent return, unless your business is oriented around online sales and you don't have to actually work 'in' your business as well.

    • Hi Sandra, thanks for stopping by and commenting.

As you mentioned, I agree, I can't do it either. Everything has to be meaningful. I have spoken at length with several bloggers and a problogger who all say 50 comments will get you the best results. But you can't just do a post such as "great post" or "I agree." All those post won't you get you anywhere. For me, I comment on anywhere to 10 to 20 posts a day. I only spend about an hour or two doing that. I set everything up in Google Reader. I can easily read 20 or 30 blogs posts. Then again I am a fast reader and that would be with out commenting. With posting it would take longer.

As for posting 50 posts it takes time and dedication. I tried it once, I took me about 4 hours to read and post to fifty a day. Of course, I was to posting to large sites such as Mashable, techcrunch and several of the SEO journals and forums. I could see a large increase traffic. I do not have the time to do this daily. Most bloggers can not either. As mentioned in my post its only ideal that post that many and you should do what you can. I found at least 10 comments works best for my site. I try and spend an hour in the morning commenting and hour in the evening to blog and make comments.

      • Do you really believe that the links at the end of your comment are effect for search engine ranking? My observation says its good traffic and some sort of recognition in the community, but I doubt if it can be a good tool to increase ranking.

Search engines certainly cares the links inside posts surrounded by text, and the link do get positive value but for the link on the comments, it will hardly notice.

I don't mean writing comments is unnecessary and waste of time. But Commenting has its own benefits – not Search Engine Ranking.
My recent post Do I need permission to link to other websites in my post?

        • From the research I have read, its helps. I believe that links surrounded by text is going to be scored higher but as to a second link on your post, it will help. Its another link from a site. If that site has a high page rank this will still help more than not have any. I see commentluv as a tool that not only helps you but its helps out other bloggers. I see it as giving back to community.

Another thing to think about. Comments are an extension of your content. Google loves it when you update your content. So if people find your links from an old blog posts, they might stop and comment on your old blog post. This will be consider a content update. Next time the search engines crawl your sites. They will see this.

  5. Another useful plugin would be a good SEO plugin like Platinum SEO or Headspace (just downloaded this one and am checking it out now, I like it so far), this helps with redirects, descriptions, and titles tags.
My recent post Every blogger needs some LUV let's give it to them all

    • Thanks for stopping by Keith,

I have heard of those. I heard that All one SEO is all you need and platinum has some extras that may or may not be needed. I have been thinking about doing some research on it.

I have heard about headspace, but I do not know much about it, I think I might have to do a little research on it.

As for not mentioned those, I know, those will be on separate post. I will have a list of important plugins later this week.

  7. Hi Extreme John, thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Just be careful where you do business with for your link purchasing. Google doesn't like link purchasing and sometimes the traffic that is sent to you from the link purchase may not be traffic that is relevant to your site/businesses.

  9. You're right about original content, ever since I've begun posting five days out of the week, I've seen a steady increase in my alexa ranking. Whenever I do post duplicate content – for example from ezinearticles, I add it with an introductory post and I revise the title a bit. With my own response and comments, the post is not just duplicate content.

  11. Oh, but some of those dropdown menus can be crawled!

Just use CSS, as long as they are hand coded in the DOM, you will be fine.
Or you could always use cheap tricks for it, for example my AJAX framework is crawl enabled (or w/e you would call that)

Nice article, keep up the good work!

  12. I've been using blog engage for a few weeks now and I didn't know about
"Just remember when you submit your content you need to reword and change the title on the submission page. Google will consider the submission pages as duplicate sites and penalize your hard work."
Where did you learn this? It seems pretty bad, you can't have a link on blog engage pointing to your site if the link is the same as the title of the post? Odd
My recent post Installing SharePoint 2010

    • It is very odd but, Google set these rules. These findings came from different readings from various SEO blogs, journals and the Google Webmaster guidelines. I actually heard about this from someone submitting a Blog Engage submission. After hearing that I did the research. Even if this is just a rumor, I always try and change up my submissions to be on the safe side.

You can have a link posted on any site, but Blog Engage and other submission sites creates a page for your submission. Google will see this as a web page. I do not know how much Google counts against the site. I have googled some my older submissions and I can see them should in the search rankings. When I click on those it leads to the Blog Engage site with a short description of the article.

I recommend, changingthe name up on your submission on Blog Engage and then create a new summary in the description. These submissions can also be seen as another way to advertise your site.

  13. Great post! One of the other things that I do to build links is to set up articles and other blogs around the web with reference links back to my target site. I also make sure that when I write posts for my blog that I'm including enough combinations of similar but slightly different keywords to maximize the chance that I'll grab a string of words that someone will search for.

  14. Devoured every word here and every thing is straight to the point. This indeed good info for me.

However, will I be able to do 50 comments a day? Well let’s see how it works out! 🙂

  15. Hi, I’m a new blogger, been blogging for almost a month. These are nice tips. I’ve been sticking to one site to help refer my link. But thanks to your tips, I am going to change my strategies. Maybe I can do 20 comments. Would you mind suggesting some nice DoFollow sites? And oh, can I ask a favor, do you have a post regarding how to set up a blogspot site to be DoFollow ready?

One more question, my blog was previously hosted by blogger. And I recently changed and redirected it to a domain I purchased. Is this a good move or not? Any type of help would be very much appreciated!
