  1. You are right James. The main reason for CommentLuv for me is to be able to get some good relevant comments but also give back to those valuable readers in the form of a link. It’s also a great way to learn about other blogs and network with other bloggers.

    • Aaron, if wasn’t for CommentLuv, there so many blogs and bloggers I would never have met…

      • True that , it’s a great tool [and plugin for wordpress] , it allows you to find related blogs and bloggers to your niche easily , and make a network together , maybe even find friends , like me.

    • I am fairly new to all of this SEO stuff and I am wondering if there is any reason you wouldn’t want to link out to someone else. – providing they are a real person and not a bot or spammer.

      • Hi Tracy,

In my opinion, having unrelated links isn’t all that bad for your site, but it doesn’t help for SEO. Search Engines are looking for relevant links to authority sites.

If you have a bunch of random links on your site or in your articles, your site might be considered a link farm even if that’s not what you were trying to accomplish.

If you want to add a links pages and it isn’t related to your niche but you think they might be helpful for your readers, I would create a separate link page and have the search engines ignore (not crawl) the page

  2. Great article. i look forward to hosting my own site soon and comluv will definitely be a must plug in for my site.

    • Charles, you can use CommentLuv with blogger. You can run it through Intense debate comment system. It works great for the blogger platform but I would never use it on a wordpress driven site.

  3. True, James. For me, my blogging activity didnt start at the time I made my first blog post, but all started with CommentLuv. I met a lot of great bloggers while driving traffic to my site, and its a win-win for both commenter and blogger.

    • Same, but its not all that bad of idea to start posting before commenting on other sites. Waiting a little gives your site a little more content for users to read.

As for the comments using comluv, hows your traffic, what kind of numbers are you getting?

  4. I used ComLuv for awhile and got tons of comments. I also learned a lot of interesting things that others were blogging about from their links.

  5. I love CommentLuv! Thanks for all the helpful information!

  6. I agree..I wouldn’t have found some of the great blogs I did without this plug in. It is my favorite plug-in by far, and I always recommend my clients add it to their blogs.

    • Same, one of the first thing I tell a client looking to market their site is to install a wordpress blog and the commentluv plugin.

  7. Great review and walkthough of how to use commentluv

    • Thanks, I have had several people ask me about the plugin and want to know how to use it. So I thought I would introduce everyone to comluv and do a quick walk through on how to use it.

  8. I’m about to install this plugin on my blog. I can already see the benefits to be had from it. Thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Good Luck with the comluv on your site. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

  9. I highly recommend using Commentluv also. I also encourage people to remove the nofollow tag from their comments. There isn’t the same incentive as there was a couple years ago for using nofollow. You just have to be a little careful about putting in a spam filter to minimize abusers.

    • I agree, DoFollow goes great with comluv but you do get more spam. thats why I removed the DoFollow Banner and added a DoFollow Plugin that I setup so a new visitor does not abuse the system. Once they are around for certain amount of comments they go dofollow.

  10. I really love this Plugin;

I remember when it first hit the scene. I had installed it on my main blog, and quickly added it to my other blogs. I really enjoyed that I could “give back” to my community by allowing them to link back to their last post.

Over time its simply gotten better since now you can choose among ten posts, if you register at the comluv.com website.

  11. Hello James!

This was a very, very helpful article. It highlights and explains all of the key points I was looking to get answers for.

  12. Hi James, I have CommentLuv installed on my Blogger blog as a plugin for Intense Debate. I was surprised to find that the links were automatically DoFollow and I quickly added the blog to Kristie’s DoFollow directory. I also did a couple of posts recently, one is about adding default links and the other is a troubleshooting post that shows how to remove splices (like delicious bookmarks) from your feed.
I’m proud to be part of the CommentLuv network! Thank you.

  13. I have an account and always see it on other sites but didn’t know why I was getting flack from my few readers for not having it on my site. Now I know. I just wish I didn’t have some many issues trying to install simple plugins.

Guess I will be purchasing a theme soon. (sigh) Will it be easier?

  14. I love comment luv because it has a option to displace related post from commentator.

  15. This is a very good review of what CommentLuv is. I like the way you illustrated the topic with actual images taken from the form. That’s very helpful.

    Thank you!

  16. What an excellent idea i will be adding this to my blog and hopefully i will get some well deserved viewers. It is very hard now to get alot of views with everyone using blogs. Hopefully i will stand out from the crowd with this luv app. Thankyou for sharing best of luck witht the blog.

  17. Hey, Who ever invented CommentLuv is a great person and has defiantly helped us bloggers get more comments and subscribers. One of my blogs has this plugin and get way more quality comments because of it.

  18. I had saved a link to this post since I read it in August but never got around to it. Now that I’m working on my own blog, I’m kicking myself for not doing so earlier. This post introduced me to comment luv and as you can see I now have it installed on my site along with Intense Debate.
    In short, Thanks 🙂

  19. Hi James,
This is a really great tutorial describing how to use CommentLuv and why it’s a great plugin. There is an incredible community of CommentLuv bloggers that really seems to stick together. Not only does it spark conversation, but it’s a courteous way to thank people for taking the time to comment. By far my favorite plugin I use. Thanks for posting the helpful article!

  20. Great post, James!

I’ve just installed the plug-in and had to blog about it : ) May I know how you enable spam filtering with Comment Luv?

Thanks a ton for the info.

  21. Web Design Hull says

Thanks for this James, I’m new to commentluv and couldn’t figure out why my feeds don’t show on my posts. This is the first one that has shown up at the bottom of my post. Thanks!!

  22. ComLuv is a fantastic tool which I have been using for my sites keyword link building campaigns. Your sites receive great quality backlinks from high PR sites just like this one. All links are Do Follow and what is also great it that most site cache you link so that your link doesn’t disappear in a couple of weeks.

Well Done and a big thank you to Andy Bailey CommentLuv founder.

  23. I relly like this blog,James.I’m student of computer program.I like this so much.Thank you a lot
