It’s been a few days since I last posted. I normally would have made several posts during the week, but since it was a holiday weekend, my wife and I decided to take some much needed time off and take a six day vacation away from social media, work and friends. Of course, we really didn’t shut down the computers, but we avoided social media, blogging and work. I only checked email every so often to make sure I did not have any new business requests. Since we are about 6 hours from the beach we decided to spend our vacation between family in Houston and time on the beach in Galveston, Texas. Originally we planned to hit one our favorite beach spots on the Gulf Coast (Gulf Shores, Alabama or Destin Florida) but due to the recent issues with BP and the oil spill, we decided not to risk it and just went local.

During our time off, I used some of my free time to think about what goals I want to accomplish for Evolutionary Designs, posting frequency and the design of the site. My wife and I talked about the future of Evolutionary Designs, another site I am about to create, and about the future of her site that I will be converting to WordPress sometime next month.

Goals:

  • New Theme: Will eventually move to Thesis.
  • Add custom social media buttons to single.php and style.css files
  • Remove blog engagae and MMO social bookmark buttons – slows site down to much
  • Create custom banners and background for the site
  • Have more guest posts to Evolutionary Designs
  • Create a blog roll and resource pages for New Media, – Design, SEO, social media, and blogging tips

Personal News but Related to Evolutionary Designs

Our regular readers know that I am a supporter of guest writers on this site and guest writing in general. For those that do not know, I write for Famous Bloggers several times a month as a guest author. As of last weekend, I became a staff writer for Famous Bloggers. Because of this, I have decided that I will spend more time writing for Famous Bloggers, and write several blog updates to Evolutionary Designs, Several Times a week. The posting schedule will very due to my work schedules.

For those that wonder why I will spend more time over at Famous Bloggers than on my site, I have several reasons:

  • I enjoy writing for Famous Bloggers,
  • I consider Hisham (owner of Famous) a friend
  • I have been looking to work on a multi-author blog for several months and this one is one is already on its way to being a very popular blog
  • Personal and business brand exposure
  • Guest posting and working with other bloggers is a great way to get backlinks and traffic back to your site(s)
