no spam Today I made some changes to Evolutionary Designs comment system. After receiving large numbers of spam by trackbacks or by comment bots, I decided I would make it a little harder for the spammers to waste my time. As of early this afternoon I added a new plugin called WP-SpamFree WordPress Spam Plugin

What Makes This Plugin Different From All the Others?

WP-SpamFree is a powerful anti-spam plugin for WordPress that destroys comment spam, including trackback and pingback spam. The difference between WP-SpamFree and other anti-spam plugins? WP-SpamFree runs background without CAPCHA’s like verifications. This plugin also has a spam-free contact form features and no I am not using it. I like my contact form better. If you want to know more about this plugin, please visit WP-SpamFree.

What Does This Plugin Mean To Me As Commenter?

As a commenter, if your human, you should not have any issues. If you are concerned, don’t be. Just be natural, and write what you want. The plugin can tell the difference be a human and bot. Over the next few weeks I will be testing this comment and monitoring the spam logs. If you have any issues please let me know. If it deletes your comments, send me an email through the Contact Form, or contact me on Twitter.

  1. Hi James,

What's the difference between pingback spam and a normal pingback? I got some pingbacks the other day that were in Russian so I wasn't sure if it was spam or not. I know that I get a lot of visitors from Russia because they are retweeting me on Twitter.
BTW – I joined your FaceBook Fan page.

    Thanks.
