Those complaints are that high profiles users such as Chris Brogan, Robert Scoble, and Trey Ratcliff fill up and clog up their Google Plus streams.

A Little More Detail

When a high profile user leaves an update, they can get 100s of comments within minutes of posting that update. When this happens, those that follow these high profile users will have to get into a scrolling race to stay ahead of the comments.

Because of this, I can see why some might complain about this and even unfriend these users. At first, I found it kind of annoying but I got use to it and I even found a way around the Google Plus Network scrolling race. Actually this work around has been around for quite awhile, it’s just hidden.

The work around is a feature profile by Google Plus Network that closes the status updates and they call it muting the update. To mute the update, all you have to do is click on on the down arrow in the top left corner of the status update.

Once you click on the down arrow, select mute this post. Once the post is muted, you will no longer see the status update. If for some reason, you do want to see it again, you can unmute it and it will show all of the comments again.

So as you can see by muting the post, you no longer need to scroll through the long comment list.

Final Thoughts

As mentioned before, I found this feature early on. I follow a good amount of high profile users. Sometimes I comment on them, sometimes I don’t. But once I am finished with one of these high traffic posts, I will mute it so I longer have to see it, deal it with it, and I won’t spend time scroll through the endless supply of comments.

By using the mute feature, you no longer need to unfollow someone. Just mute them and stop complaining about it.

Recently I have heard a lot of complaints about Google Plus network and the High Profile users.
