10 of Best PhotoShop Tutorials Created in December

Its that time again for another list of best PhotoShop tutorials created each month. This month there were not as many created as in other months. So I took a few of my favorites. I gathered tutorials that will teach you how to use blending tools, filters and how to use selection tools to pull parts of an image and use them to create a new design.

1. A Photo Manipulator’s Guide to Blending

Photo Manipulator’s Guide to Blending is a tutorial that teaches the technique of blending images to create one design. If you do it right, it can look believable but if you do it wrong, it will look “photoshopped.” Learning to blend is essential as a graphic designer. Successfully completing this tutorial will help you learn to use tool such as, brush tools and layer masks, lasso tool, blending modes, and channels. This tutorial is designed to teach you the basics and is considered a beginner tutorial.

2. Create a Powerful Mental Wave Explosion Effect

The Mental Wave Explosion Effect is one of my favorite effects and even though this is a republish I thought I would share this one for those that haven’t seen it. This effect is created by using photo manipulation, several different blending modes, and filters. This tutorial was created by Fabio Sasso and is easy to follow. This tutorial is intended for beginners. However, you do need to be familiar with the tools needed to successfully complete this tutorial.

3. Make a Glossy, Glowy, Fancy 3D logo – PhotoShop Tutorial

photoshop tutorials Fancy logos can make or break a website. Learn how to make a glowing logo for your website. The tutorial uses advanced techniques. This tutorial is designed for intermediate PhotoShop users.

4. Turn an Ordinary Photo Into an Avatar Style Portrait in Photoshop

skinpainting Avatar Style Portraits are starting to become more popular and you may find them popping on message boards and gamer sites. Creating this style for your own work or for a friend is easy. You can use basic digital painting techniques in Photoshop to create this effect. This is a very easy tutorial and can be done by a beginner.

5. Quick Tip: Create a Futuristic, Grungy Metal Text Effect in Photoshop

If you are looking to create this effect or even just part of it, this tutorial is for you. This grungy text effect is easy to do and the tutorial does a excellent job at explaining what is needed to accomplish this. The tutorial is designed for beginners.

6. Tron Legacy Tutorial

PhotShop Tutorials Tron Legacy Tutorial is tutorial for advanced users. In order to do this tutorial you need to know how to use Adobe Illustrator, Cinema 4D and Photoshop. If you know how to use the tools, then tutorial should not be to hard. If you have done this tutorial, let me know how easy it was. I have not done this tutorial since I do not have Cinema 4D.

7. Case Study No.1: Kids  with Bubbles Advertisement

This is a very easy tutorial and can be done as a beginner. This tutorials uses brushes, filters and stock photo to create this design.

8. Serene Fantasy PhotoShop Manipulation

photoshop tutorials Serene Fantasy Images are created by taking multiple parts from different images and combining them into image and uses filters and blending modes to get that perfect look. This tutorial is no exception, you have to combine a lot of techniques when creating this image. This tutorial is a longer one and should be attempted by those that are advanced users of PhotoShop.

9.  Create a Dark & Grungy Digital Art Piece in Photoshop

vogue-sm Dark and grungy digital art is is a design process that combines textures and ditressed elemetns to create a dark theme. This tutorial uses a range of PhotoShop techniques to create the final design. This tutorial is for beginners.

10. Peak of Dawn – Beginners Manipulation Tutorial

photoshop tutorials Beginner tutorial are great. They help new users get started with new tools or different design techniques. Peak of Dawn is excellent tutorial for getting in photo manipulation. It is very easy to follow and every step is explained in full detail.

Final Thoughts

Out of all of the great tutorials created this month, these are just a few of my favorites.  All of them are not to easy and not to hard to complete. I would suggest at least a basic understanding of PhotoShop before attempting any of these tutorials.

    I know this post is pretty old but dang, those are some awesome links that I am excited to check out! I don’t know very much about photoshop (in fact, i’m still saving up so I can buy it) but I will be using it next semester and I’m really looking forward to it.
